“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.”  Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Some goals in life are clearly achievable, such as earning a degree or completing a marathon. However, as Christians, there are some goals that are ongoing pursuits rather than aspirations that can be fully achieved in this life. One such goal is becoming perfectly Christlike in our behavior and obedience.

Paul, despite his experience and discipline, recognized that he was far from perfect. He understood that he needed more of God and less of himself.

I pray that, like Paul, we humble ourselves by acknowledging that we are works in progress (Philippians 1:6).  Moreover, I pray that we continue to make choices that are pleasing to God.   By doing so, God will reward our obedience (Hebrews 11:6) and continue to fashion us into the image of His Son (Romans 8:29).  Praise God for that!
