Sunday Devo - October 20, 2024

I Chronicles 16:34 “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercies endure forever.”

So there I was deep in the sands of Afghanistan on a dark spring evening with a shovel in hand removing mud from the wash rack. I was 30 days out from heading back home to Merica. And I was caught up in some trouble. Big trouble from what I thought at the time. Possibly getting kicked out of the Marines for repeated offense. Embarrassment of bringing shame to myself cause I got kicked out. I was crushed having those thoughts in my mind on repeat. Then the song O-o-h child by The Five Stairsteps popped in my head. Unknowingly God used that song to help me look at “bad” situations differently.

Instead of looking at it in a negative way it’s just God refining me. I’m sure we all have moments in our lives that challenged us mentally, spiritually, and physically that we can look back and see God working in our lives.

Always remember God is GOOD and there is a reason stuff happens to us. So rejoice and give thanks cause his mercies never stop all the way up to when we are with Him again.
