“And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord.”
‭‭II Kings‬ ‭19‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

During his reign of Judah, King Hezekiah faced opposition from the Assyrians.  In fact, the Assyrian King gave Hezekiah an ultimatum; he could either surrender or be conquered.  Given that Hezekiah witnessed the defeat of Israel by the Assyrians, he was concerned that Judah would share a similar fate.

When he received a distressing letter from the Assyrian King, Hezekiah was deeply troubled.  Instead of allowing his fear to manifest itself into a foolish action, Hezekiah wisely chose to lay the Letter before the Lord and trust God in his trial.

Like Hezekiah, I pray that we lay our trials (big and small) before the Lord.  Instead of giving into fear, I pray that we trust God in such times.  It is comforting to remind ourselves that God loves us and knows what is best for us (James 1:17).
