Romans 12:1 "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship."
Have You made God the Lord of your life?
Paul is arguing his case, to believers, to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. Paul gives multiple reasons, or mercies of God, in the previous 11 chapters on why we should give ourselves to God. A few of those reasons are justification from the guilt and penalty of sin, adoption in Jesus and identification with Christ, placed under grace, not law, giving the Holy Spirit to live within, confidence of no separation from the love of God, and many more. Now God does not accept all sacrifices given to Him (Genesis 4:3-5). Sacrifices presented to God must be without blemishes (Deuteronomy 17:1). The only way we are without blemish is through the blood of Christ (1 Peter 2:4-5). In giving our bodies to God we are in turn spiritually worshiping our Lord. Worshiping in spirit and truth is how God wants us to worship Him (John 4:24). The truth of His many mercies is the reason why we should make God our Lord and not just our Savior and in doing so we are spiritually worshiping our God.
Re-cap: Paul presents his case to convince us to give our whole selves (our jobs, marriages, time, everything) to God as living sacrifices through Jesus Christ making us holy and acceptable to God which is our spiritual worship. We may have accepted Christ to be our Savior, but we got to ask ourselves, "Have we made Him the Lord of our lives?"
