So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. (Mt 21:21)
Think about the recorded miracles of Jesus and never once did He move a physical mountain. After all this is exactly what the spectators called for, some sort of cosmic display on a grand scale. No, instead the mountains Jesus moved were spiritual in nature, impossible situations of incurable sickness or even death. All of the miracles had the purpose of bringing people to salvation. You can think of the mountains in your life or the life of others in your life. Maybe it's a sickness, broken relationship, maybe it's a bad habit that by your own power is impossible to break. Jesus invites us to bring these things to Him in prayer, to keep on bringing them and seeking God's will. Allowing Him to move the mountain and throw it into the sea.
We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, (2 Th 1:3).
