1 Timothy 2:1-4 “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

As we approach the 4th of July holiday, we should set aside prayer time for our country. Praying for the people in authority for their salvation; and for godly decisions to be made is not an optional activity but a priority. Many times we can lose the benefits of prayer by short-circuiting and reducing prayer to a quick check-list items.

Spending time in prayer appreciating God, brings us into God’s presence; and helps us see the world and its circumstances through God’s eyes (Matthew 16:23).

May this time be a new start towards priority prayer for our country’s leaders in authority.         -Tim
