Isaiah 43:18, 19, “Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert."
The Lord is giving His people a gentle reminder not to get mired down and get stuck in the failure and sin and defeat of the past. Holding onto the past will only keep you from entering into the new thing the Lord has waiting for you. When you stop to think about it, life is continually filled with the new. This is a fact that God seems to understand because He is a God of the new.
The Bible is filled with the new and the different. In fact, the word ‘new’ fills the promises of God: New life, New hope, New lifestyle/creation, New body, New mind, New age, New strength, New heaven and new earth.
Do we have eyes of faith? Eyes of faith will dream of the place beyond here into the realm of what might be! As we decidedly press onward with the Lord, He assures us He will be faithful work a new work in our life. Jesus wants to do something new in your life. The question that remains is this: will you let Him? By faith let’s jettison the past and move on to what God has for us in the future!
