Sunday Devo - August 16, 2026

“So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said to them, ‘Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.’”  Acts 4:18–20 NKJV

God’s calling is the supreme calling, even when it may upset or offend others. Peter and John demonstrated this principle when they refused to stop proclaiming Jesus despite the threats and commands of the religious authorities. They understood that obedience to God took precedence over the approval of men.

It is important to note that Peter and John were not trying to be offensive or rude. Their goal was not to provoke people or create conflict; they were simply determined to remain faithful to the Lord.

We too should strive to faithfully share God’s truth, even when doing so may come at a cost. Our responsibility is not to make everyone comfortable or to win everyone’s approval, but to remain faithful to Christ and obedient to His calling.
