Jude 1:21, keep yourselves in the love of God…
Jude is not speaking here of keeping ourselves saved or that God’s love is conditional. Instead, we are encouraged stay close to God and His infinite love and mercy. Don’t be swayed by, or get drawn into, the things of the world. But stay inside the warmth and protection of His love like a safe shelter. We can live in such a way so as to deny ourselves the benefits of God’s love. People who don’t keep themselves in the love of God end up living as if they are on the dark side of the moon. The sun is always out there, always shining, but they are never in a position to receive its light or warmth. An example of this is the Prodigal Son of Luke 15, who was always loved by the father, but for a time, he did not benefit from his father’s presence, his love or his blessings.

Don’t allow the cares of life and the tricks of the devil to come between you and your Lord. Allow God’s love to grow within your heart. Ever reaching out to Jesus, giving Him your time and your life as your love for Him and others grows.
