Sunday Devo - November 16, 2025

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”  ‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3‬:‭22‬-‭23‬, ‭NKJV

When Jeremiah wrote these words, he was deeply grieved by the judgment that had fallen upon Jerusalem. Was God’s judgment deserved? Absolutely. His people had turned to pagan worship and even practiced child sacrifice.

Yet in the midst of such devastation, Jeremiah could still see God’s compassion. God did not completely destroy His people. Instead, because of His great love, He disciplined them — not out of cruelty, but for their good — so they might turn from their destructive ways and return to the one true God who loves them.

It’s good for us to be reminded through verses like these that God, in His great love, is slow to anger and full of compassion — even when we are not faithful.
