Sunday Devo - July 13, 2025

“However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,” (1 Corinthians 2:6-7)

Believers in Christ have a great advantage of knowing God’s wisdom. That wisdom as revealed through scripture is markedly different from the "wisdom of this age." Particularly when we see God's plan for the salvation of mankind through the person of Jesus Christ. This wisdom is foolishness to the Humanists (Paul referred to non believing Greeks) and to the Jews a stumbling block.

As believers in Christ we are filled with the Holy Spirit which teaches us and guides us through God's word. In the Spirit we mature in our attitude and actions such that we conduct ourselves towards others revealing the love of Jesus. The Bible anticipates the questions that arise from skeptics as to how the universe was formed and what the future holds. Scripture itself declares that this is God's word.
 
I pray as a church we grow in the Spirit and in the study of the Word. As Paul says further in that same chapter that “we have the mind of Christ”.
